50 Healthiest Everyday Foods!
The journey from fresh to processed is not a simple one – and eating completely clean at every meal isn't always realistic. That's why Prevention Magazine (March 2010 issue) compiled a chart to show how common foods morph from real to highly processed. Your goal: Choose from foods in their natural state as often as possible, go with foods that are somewhat processed in a pinch, and limit highly processed items.
Under the "Packaged Foods We LOVE" section, Prevention Magazine says, "You don't have to sacrifice convenience or your budget to eat clean. More companies are producing foods that are relatively unprocessed and more healthful." They asked their experts to recommend their favorites – the foods they grab off supermarket shelves when they don't have time to cook from scratch. Yes, you guessed it!!! Crazy Richard's was the only peanut butter recommended with special mention of our 1 ingredient: peanuts.
The folks at Prevention Magazine were kind enough to include us in their Today Show segment (March 10, 2010) talking about their picks for the 50 Healthiest Everyday Foods and giving us special mention that they love us!! Thanks Prevention!

Healthy Living Taste Test – BEST PEANUT BUTTERS!!
Only a few peanut butters they tested had that aroma and flavor of just-ground glory-abundantly peanutty and perfect for spooning right out of the container. In the end, several Cooking Light staffers decided to ditch their household brand for several winners, including Krema Natural Chunky Peanut Butter ... voted "BEST NATURAL CRUNCHY"! With our no added sugar, salt, or hydrogenated oils, they didn't miss the sweetness and the Raters liked the hunks of peanuts, the crunch, and the real peanut flavor. Serve atop toast, waffles, or pancakes drizzled with honey; use as a binder for ground meats; or try it in fudge or blonde brownies.
Here are 4 tips for working with peanut butter from Cooking Light Magazine:
- Keep it real. Full-fat peanut butters trump reduced-fat flavor, and they supply heart-healthy monounsaturated fats and 7 grams of protein per serving. (Choose butters without trans fats.) Reduced-fat spreads offer little calorie savings, and you're ditching good-for-you fats.
- Stir it up. The fat in natural peanut butters will likely separate. If you're a natural peanut butter junkie, you may want to shell out for a mixer (witmerproducts.com).
- Check the date. Fats are susceptible to spoiling, which leaves an off flavor. Check the "use by" date and store as directed by the label.
- Bake with care. Generally, the oilier the butter, the more baked goods spread. Add a little extra baking time when using natural butters.
